Choosing a flooring color is a subjective decision, but certain colors are better for achieving specific goals. For those interested in practical alternatives, lighter-colored floors typically show dirt less and may even retain their appearance longer.

Dark flooring will give the impression of an actual cave, particularly if the room isn’t well lit. The effect can be offset with light-colored walls.

Styles and Fading

Light flooring best complements styles such as Scandinavian, Colonial, Modern and even Farm. Dark flooring is best for Revolutionary, French, and Indian and Asian themed décor. Also, be aware that flooring is subject to fading from UV rays entering from windows and it will be more obvious on dark flooring.
