The ultimate cost will depend on multiple factors that include whether the flooring is solid or engineered, native or exotic wood, along with the thickness, hardness and type of finish. Pine and engineered wood flooring can cost as little as $3 to $6 per square foot, while exotic woods can run from $8 to $14 per square foot. Hardwood is the most popular type of flooring and highly sought by home buyers.

Ceramic and Porcelain Tile

Individuals will pay most for ceramic and porcelain tiles, but it’s an investment that will last for many years. Costs run the gamut. Ceramic tiles can be purchased for as little as 50 cents per square foot to a high of $35, depending on the quality and density. Porcelain tile will average from $3 to $35 per square foot.
