I could probably go on and on for pages about how adding carpet to my house added a level of comfort that I can’t accurately describe, but there were other reasons that we decided that it was the best option for our home as well. Here are a few of those reasons:

• Safety and noise reduction: Due to the added padding under the carpet, I find that our home is quieter, but I also find that if I fall or trip, I am less likely to get hurt. This may seem like a silly reason to list, but this was one of my deciding factors when choosing between carpet and hardwood.
• In my last home, we had laminate flooring in almost every room. I remember having to dust mop those floors a couple of times a day due to dust and pet hair accumulation. I read an article that discussed carpet as a source of air purification. The article stated that carpet works to help keep the air cleaner by preventing dust and pet hair from flying around in a home. While I still vacuum frequently; it is nothing compared to dust moping our other floors.
• Energy efficiency: Like many other Americans right now, I am trying to reduce our carbon footprint. We added recycling to our routine as well as some reusable drinking bottles, but one of the significant things I did was add carpeting to the majority of my floors. This helps with both our heating and cooling bills by hindering heat transference. Ultimately it makes my home more energy efficient.

I know that there may be less new carpets installed in Parkland, Florida compared to the northern states, but as someone who has a home in both places, it was very important to me to have some of the comforts of the north with me here in the south.
